Barristers in Cyprus

barristers cyprus

Cyprus Barristers is a term referring to the lawyer who represents litigants as their advocate before the courts of that jurisdiction.

Barristers in Cyprus often have a more specialized knowledge of case-law and precedent. In general, barristers engage in advocacy (trial work) and solicitors in office work, but there is a considerable overlap in their functions. A legal practitioner whose function is similar to that of a U.S. Trial lawyer, although the Cyprus barrister does not prepare the case from the start.

Work includes giving legal written opinions - for example, giving advice as to whether a case would be successful if taken to court, reading law reports and witness statements to prepare for a court case, researching similar cases, and representing clients in court, by presenting the facts of the case to the judge and jury, cross-examining witnesses and summing up.
