We are proud to announce that AGP Law Firm is an official sponsor of the cycling race “REMEDICA Blue Route,” organised by EUROPA UOMO, in association with cycling association, Kmeaters.
The event, scheduled to be held on October 9 and 10, 2021, aims to spread awareness about the increasing prevalence of prostate cancer in men and the benefits of an early diagnosis.
Commencing on October 9, the cycle race will start from the amphitheatre of Heroes Christos and Miltos Christoforou in Limassol, Cyprus. The event will include the following races:
- A 117 km race, “Blue Route,” on October 9, in the mountains in Limassol. This race is meant for professional cyclists.
- REMEDICA Blue Route a 7 km social cycling event, will be held on October 10, and is open for everyone.
- A 3-day cycling event, “Pancyprian Cycling,” in November 2021, will start from the Oncology Centre of the Bank of Cyprus.
Consistent Efforts by EUROPA UOMO to Raise Public Awareness about Prostate Cancer
Founded in 2007, Europa UOMO Cyprus is a voluntary, non-profit organisation that supports families with cancer patients and raises public awareness about prostate cancer through its complex and multi-faceted humanitarian work. The vision of the organisation is to contribute towards the improvement of public health, by educating people about the need for early diagnosis and prevention of prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is becoming increasingly prevalent and according to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 men will develop this disease in their lifetime. In 2020, it was the 4th most common type of cancer affecting people worldwide, with 1.41 million new cases.
Treatment has been proven to lead to better outcomes when the cancer is diagnosed early. This is what Europa UOMO is continuously educating people about. The organisation aims to create a society free of the threat of prostate cancer and help people achieve good quality of life after diagnosis.
In 2020, despite global disruptions due to the pandemic, the organisation successfully carried out a large campaign to inform and raise public awareness through an ensemble participation of sports clubs, corporate houses and political parties.
Europa UOMO also has plans in the pipeline for a large campaign, consisting of specific actions and several events, from September 2021 to September 2022. The cycling event is one of the initiatives under this campaign. Sports is always a harmonious activity, which not only benefits the body and mind but also brings together people from all walks of life.
REMEDICA Blue Route will attract a large group of volunteers, cycling groups, as well as popular Cypriot personalities to inform the public and raise financial support for prostrate cancer. The monetary support will be dedicated to ensuring better quality of life for cancer patients, through access to specialised treatment centres in Cyprus and abroad. This includes the purchase of vital equipment and the provision of other services.
AGP shares many of its values with Europa UOMO, including supporting people and organisations to be successful in their endeavours and lead a better quality of life. This is why the law firm is excited about its association with the organisation for the current event and also future events.
