The education required of a solicitor includes a law school course and five years of apprenticeship with a practicing solicitor. Solicitor in Cyprus are a type of lawyer in many common law jurisdictions across the island. It may also be a term used by government attorneys in some government agencies.
One common method of qualification for Cyprus solicitors is to go through the undergraduate law degree, or a degree in any subject followed by a one year Post-Graduate Diploma in Law. Other routes towards a career in soliciting include spending time as a clerk to magistrates, or passing exams set by the Cyprus Institute of Legal Executives. Up to this point a barrister and solicitor have the same education.
